“I think a good idea for an adventure starts with just that little fizzle of chemistry in your gut, when you wake up one morning and go “My God, this is it. You know, I just have to do it. It just feels right.”

-Dave Cornthwaite

Six months ago, I was getting ready for a big adventure: I was going to cycle from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego. But knee problems forced me to stopped very early. Luckily, I was able to quickly find work in the Yukon, and spent the whole summer and fall paddling, doing physio and riding my bike as much as my knees would allow me.

Multi-day touring adventure in Tofino and becoming certified as an instructor

What initially started as a plan to go Stand-Up Paddle boarding in Kenya (after I talked to someone who lives there and had connections in the Kenyan paddling community), was later modified into a bike trip to Kenya and Uganda. It is a long way to go for a short trip with questionable knees. But there hasn’t been a day since I went cycling in South Africa where I didn’t think about going back to this fascinating continent. Plus, I can’t wait until June to travel on my bike again!

Never a bad day for cycling!

So after a brief stop in Quebec to spend Christmas with my family, Laf (my bike) and I will be on our way to a new adventure…
